The Chalfont St Peter Community Library hosts a number of regular activities including:

Bounce and Rhyme

Laura and the Bounce and Rhyme toys are looking forward to seeing you Wednesday mornings at 10.30. Followed by a Duplo session at 11am. Drop by for this free session for the under fives at Chalfont St Peter Library. No need to book. Term time only.

Stitching Knitting and Nattering

Every Tuesday in upstairs meeting room from 10 am to 12 noon

MONDAY MOVIES

Films are shown on the last Monday in the month. Attendance is free of charge but a small donation is most welcome. There are usually two films shown on the day and details and bookings are available in the library The next films are on Monday 27th October.

The White Bird at 11 am

Julian has struggled to belong ever since he was expelled from his former school for his treatment of Auggie Pullman. To transform his life, Julian’s grandmother finally reveals her own story of courage. During her youth in Nazi-occupied France, a boy shelters her from mortal danger. Together, they find first love in a stunning, magical world of their own creation, while the boy’s mother risks everything to keep her safe.

Mr Burton at 2 30 pm

The story of the wild school boy Rich Jenkins, son of a boozy miner and an English teacher who recognised his talent, Philip Burton.

Chalfont St Peter Library Film Club

Mid-Month CLASSIC FILM

A classic film or family favourite will be shown on the second Monday of the month. Attendance is free of charge but a small donation is most welcome.  Details and bookings are available in the library. The next films are on Monday 10th November.

Churchill at 11 am

Tensions mount for beleaguered British Prime Minister Winston Churchill as D-Day nears in June 1944. Fearful of repeating past mistakes, Churchill is reluctant to embark on the large-scale campaign that the entire war effort hinges upon. Clashing with his political opponents, the troubled leader receives unwavering support from his devoted wife, Clementine. With strength and shrewdness, she tries to prevent his physical, mental and spiritual collapse while inspiring him to achieve greatness.

The Railway Children at 2 30 pm

After Charles Waterbury is imprisoned on false charges of selling state secrets, his wife must move to a small house near a railway station. The Waterbury children – Bobbie, Phyllis  and Peter — occupy themselves watching the trains, even befriending a gentleman who frequents the station. When the children discover what has happened to their father, their new friend provides key assistance.

Councillor Surgeries

Chalfont St Peter Parish Councillors regularly hold surgeries at the library to meet with local residents who have an issue that they can help with.

Celfunde

On the first Saturday morning of each month, from 10am until 1pm, the library hosts a ‘local history surgery’ open to anyone interested in the history and heritage of Chalfont St Peter. The Celfunde Inheritance, the village’s local history and heritage group will welcome you with a cuppa and biscuits, if you’d like to share your knowledge of the village’s history, or to learn more, or if you have anything you’d like us to research on your behalf. We are particularly interested in hearing your memories and scanning old photographs of the village for posterity.
