Inspired by a real-life experience of writer-director Josh Margolin’s own centenarian grandmother, Thelma puts a clever spin on movies like Mission: Impossible, shining the spotlight on an elderly grandmother as an unlikely action hero.

THE CRITIC
Set in 1930’s London, The Critic is a thrilling tale of ambition, blackmail, and desire with a dazzling anti-hero at its heart. When the most feared and vicious theatre critic in town Jimmy Erskine (Mckellen), finds himself suddenly in the cross hairs of the Daily Chronicle’s new owner David Brooke (Strong), he strikes a Faustian pact with struggling actress Nina Land (Arterton) who is desperate to win his favour.

GROUNDHOG DAY
Councillor Surgeries
Chalfont St Peter Parish Councillors regularly hold surgeries at the library to meet with local residents who have an issue that they can help with.
Celfunde
On the first Saturday morning of each month, from 10am until 1pm, the library hosts a ‘local history surgery’ open to anyone interested in the history and heritage of Chalfont St Peter. The Celfunde Inheritance, the village’s local history and heritage group will welcome you with a cuppa and biscuits, if you’d like to share your knowledge of the village’s history, or to learn more, or if you have anything you’d like us to research on your behalf. We are particularly interested in hearing your memories and scanning old photographs of the village for posterity.
