Meet The Authors – Saturday, 21st November, 2pm
DR HELEN FRY, multi-award winning author, renowned historian and the UK’s foremost expert on 20th century espionage; historical advisor for BBC, ITV and Channel 4 documentaries; ambassador for NCMI the National Centre for Military Intelligence, and a trustee of both the Friends of the Intelligence Corps and the Medmenham Collection, pays us a welcome return visit to introduce us to her new book Nuremberg: The Translator’s Tale. Her new best-seller tells the extraordinary but true story of Michael Trieste, the German-Jewish interpreter who worked with the psychiatrists assessing Hitler’s henchmen, and who found himself seated in prison cells alongside the men who had sent his own parents to the gas chambers.
CRISTINA LOGGIA
Berkshire resident Cristina began her career as a journalist for L’eco di Biella in Piedmont, Italy. After a spell running the office of an MP, she moved to London where she worked for several years as a public affairs and media relations professional, advising major multi-national corporations on communications campaigns. Her first and much acclaimed novel, Lucifer’s Game, is set in Rome in 1942 and sees determined young hotelier Cordelia Olivieri forming dangerous alliances and going undercover in an effort to keep her Jewish heritage secret and to secure a safe passage out of Mussolini’s Italy.
MERIET DUNCAN may just have been born to be a beekeeper, given that she was born in Honeypot Lane, Middlesex. Buckinghamshire-based Meriet is an inspiring public speaker and a passionate ambassador for the threatened honeybee. Through her beautifully written and illustrated children’s series of Betsie Valentine books, she engages the curiosity and deep appreciation of children across the age ranges for these fragile, industrious creatures which sustain our planet.
DENISE BEDDOWS CSP library supporter, member of the Crime Writers Association, and Chalfonts-based author of award-winning espionage and crime fiction, including the Misbourne Murder Mysteries cosy crime series, and twice short-listed in the True Crime Awards Book of the Year Award, is your host for the event.
Tickets for the event are just £7 – every penny of which goes to support the library – and are available to buy in advance or at the door on the day.
